The legend of Real Madrid, Guti joked about Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League, and in a guest appearance on the show, he pointed out the Catalans as Madrid’s ideal rival in the round of 16.
Jose Maria Gutierrez Hernandez, better known as Guti, is a prominent former Real Madrid player, who played 542 games for the Real Madrid club, scoring 77 goals and providing 93 more assists. Among other things, he won three Champions Leagues and five Spanish titles with Real.
Of the four Spanish teams that played in the group stage of the Champions League, three have already said goodbye. That was the fate of Barcelona, which ended up in the group of death behind Bayern and Inter. Therefore, Xavi’s team will play in the knockout phase of the Europa League.
The only representative from La Liga in the 1/8-finals of the elite tournament will be Real Madrid, who won the first place in the group with RB Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic. On Monday, during the draw for a rival, they will receive one of the second-placed groups.
Guti was a guest on a Spanish show analyzing the draw and Real’s possible rival, and the legendary midfielder found a way to poke fun at the eternal rival.
“PSG vs. Real in the round of 16? No, I would prefer Barcelona. Ah, we are talking about the Champions League,” said Guti.
