At the beginning of 2022, Spanish fan Santiago Sanchez embarked on an incredible venture. He set out on foot from San Sebastian with the goal of reaching Qatar before the start of the World Cup, which starts in less than a month.

Sanchez has to walk 11,000 kilometers for this venture, but contact with this adventurer was lost for about 20 days. His friend Miguel Berg revealed that the last contact he had with Sanchez was on October 2, when he received a message that everything was fine. However, after that, Sanchez loses track.

After three weeks of mystery, it has been revealed that Sanchez is actually in prison in Iran after being arrested in a border town. The Spanish fan was arrested for being at the grave of Masha Amini, the 22-year-old girl who was killed in Iran for wearing the hijab incorrectly. After the death of this girl, large protests started in Iran, in which there were also other victims.

For now, it is not known if Sanchez will be able to get out of prison and continue his journey and finally reach Qatar for the World Cup.

This Spanish fan shot to fame in 2019 when he cycled from his hometown to Saudi Arabia to cheer on his favorite team Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup against city rivals Atlético.

Then a large number of Real Madrid players congratulated Sanchez on the feat.
