The former interim manager of Manchester United, Ralf Rangnick, who is now coach of Austria, says that the leaders of the English team did not listen to him and refused to buy Erling Haaland.
Rangnik reveals in a conversation with “Bild” that he gave the board of directors a list of six names that he wanted to be bought, among them was Haaland, but he received a negative answer.
“I had a list of several names that I wanted to buy, but the club did not want to bring them to Old Trafford. Even without that list, it was clear to everyone that big changes had to be made in the club. That’s why we talked about players like Josko Guardiol or Christopher Nkunku from Leipzig who were real targets. We also talked about Alvaro Morata, Luis Diaz, Dusan Vlahovic and as I said before, Erling Haaland and that when all the players were available in the transfer market. “However, the club’s management decided to start the reconstruction of the team with a new manager,” says Rangnik.
Of the list compiled by Rangnik, only Guardiola and Nkunku did not make a transfer in the last two transfer windows and stayed at Leipzig. Diaz signed for Liverpool, Vlahovic for Juventus, and Morata returned to Atlético Madrid.
As for Haaland, the Norwegian wears the shirt of a Manchester team, but the Blue of City is the real fear and dread of goalkeepers in the Premier League. In 11 matches in the Premier League, Haaland scored as many as 17 goals.
